Who Am I?

Hi there! I'm April, the face behind Foxy Mossy.
I was born and raised in sunny Southern California, where I met my husband, James. Together, we’ve been blessed with six incredible children ranging in age from 11 to 26. Who we have homeschooled and continue to do so with West River Classical Co-Op. In April of 2021, we followed God’s leading and relocated to Rapid City, South Dakota. We love the Black Hills and the beauty of community.

But I wasn’t always on a wellness path. In fact, our journey started out of necessity. When two of our children began struggling with health issues—one with an autoimmune diagnosis and another showing signs of insulin resistance—I knew something had to change. Around the same time, I started facing my own health challenges, including a diagnosis of POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). I realized that wellness wasn’t just a trend—it was a lifeline.

The truth is that this lifestyle didn’t come easy. Wellness can feel expensive and overwhelming. But I’ve learned that sometimes, you have to prioritize what matters most—and for me, that’s stewarding the bodies God has entrusted me with: my own and my children’s. That’s how sea moss found its way into our lives and eventually sparked the creation of Foxy Mossy.

Now, I’m committed to eating more whole foods, making things from scratch like bread and pickles and even mayo, but also teaching my kids that we have the power to change the quality of our lives. This journey is about more than just superfoods—it’s about obedience, stewardship, and faith.

Why Sea Moss?

So how did Foxy Mossy come to life?
It all started with my girl Mo well the "Diva". She’s one of those people who just gets wellness. She’s always had a deep intuition about what her body needs and the discipline to follow through. I remember being so inspired by her results—she absolutely swore by sea moss.

Fast forward a bit, and I was in the thick of my own wellness journey. I'd already begun making changes for my family, but I was still searching for something simple and powerful to add to our routine. One night, I was scrolling online, deep in research, and then it hit me—Mo-the Diva. Sea moss. Of course!

I started digging into every resource I could find, determined to buy the best quality available. Just as I was about to click add to cart, I heard it—clear, unmistakable:
“You can make that—and start a business.”

Honestly? I laughed. I brushed it off. That couldn’t be for me.
But the prompting kept coming back. After weeks of back-and-forth, I finally heard it again—this time stronger:
“I told you to start this business.”

At that point, I knew it wasn’t just a random idea—it was direction.
So, I said, “Okay, Lord. I’m in.”
I figured, what do I have to lose? I already believed in the benefits of sea moss, and this could be something that not only helped keep my family on track—but could bless others too.

That’s how Foxy Mossy was born. Rooted in obedience, fueled by faith, and wrapped in purpose. And now, you get to experience the blessing too.
